Averitt Express, Pitt Ohio Express and Four Other Regional Carriers Unite to Form Reliance Network
Six carriers, known for their exceptional customer
service, dependable on-time delivery records and
strong reputation within their own territories, have
formed The Reliance Network. This new alliance,
effective March 1, 2008, will provide seamless, across
the continent, LTL, truckload and supply chain freight
services.

Volkswagen Acquires Controlling Stake in Scania, Paving Way to What Could Become Europe's Largest Truck OEM
Volkswagen has reached an agreement with Scania
stock owners Investor AB and the Wallenberg
Foundations regarding the purchase of their entire
stakes in Scania, or 30.62% of Scania's voting rights.
The purchase of the stake, reportedly worth
approximately $4 billion, will increase Volkswagen's
total votes in Scania to 68.60% (previously 37.98%)
which corresponds to 37.73% of the capital
(previously 20.89%).

John Deere Unveils "High-Speed Dozer" Capable of Traveling at 18 MPH
John Deere has unveiled the first new machine form
the construction industry has seen in decades, the
764 High-Speed Dozer (HSD), a unit that will give
operators the ability to do more in less time. This
innovative rubber-tracked dozer combines the speed
of a grader with the flotation of a crawler dozer. As a
result, operators can perform grading and moderate
dozing at about double the speed of a similarly sized
crawler. They'll also have the ability to travel 18 mph
across a job site without damaging pavement. See
